SenseTime, one of China's leading artificial intelligence (AI) companies, has recently announced a series of new products based on its SenseNova big model, a large-scale neural network that can generate various types of content from text to images.

SenseTime Unveils AI-Driven Products for Content Creation and Personalization
Among the new products are SenseChat, a chatbot that can write emails, stories and code; SenseImage, an image generator that can create realistic and diverse images from text or sketches; SenseAvatar, a digital avatar creation platform that can produce lifelike and expressive 3D characters; and SenseModeling, a pair of 3D modeling tools that can reconstruct and animate 3D objects from 2D images or videos.

SenseTime's co-founder and CEO Xu Li demonstrated some of the capabilities of these products at an online event on Monday, April 10. He showed how SenseChat could write a formal email to a client, tell a humorous story about a cat catching a fish, and generate a simple Python code to print "Hello World". He also showed how SenseImage could create realistic images of animals, landscapes and products from text descriptions or sketches. He said that these products were powered by the latest version of SenseNova, which has more than 100 billion parameters and has been trained on massive datasets using powerful hardware.

SenseTime's co-founder and chief scientist Wang Xiaogang explained that SenseNova is a generative AI model that can learn from past data to create new content. He said that SenseNova is not only a research project, but also a product platform that can be deployed across SenseTime's product line. He said that SenseTime has been focusing on developing its big models for the past five years, and has also built a strong AI infrastructure to support them.

SenseTime's new products are part of a global trend of developing and applying generative AI technology, which has been sparked by the popularity of OpenAI's ChatGPT, a chatbot that can converse with humans on various topics. ChatGPT was launched in late 2022 and has attracted millions of users worldwide. However, ChatGPT has also raised some ethical and social concerns, such as privacy, copyright and misinformation.

SenseTime did not reveal the details of its product roll out plan, but said that attendees could try out the products at the event. The company also showcased some applications of its new products in different scenarios, such as e-commerce, education and entertainment. For example, Xu showed how SenseImage, SenseAvatar and SenseModeling could work together to create a virtual livestreaming room, where the presenter, the environment and the products were all generated by AI in real time.

Sense Time

SenseTime is one of China's largest AI firms, with a valuation of over $12 billion. It is best known for its computer vision technology, which is widely used in facial recognition, security and smart city applications. However, the company has also faced some challenges in recent years, such as being sanctioned by the U.S. government over alleged human rights violations in Xinjiang. The company went public in Hong Kong in December 2021, raising $767 million.

SenseTime's new AI products and chatbot reflect its ambition to expand its business scope and compete with global rivals in the field of generative AI. The company hopes that its products can bring more value and convenience to its customers and users, as well as showcase its technological innovation and leadership.
