A new way to browse the web is here. Arc by Browser Company has made its debut on iOS. Arc is a completely new and reimagined browser experience. We will start with a little background about Browser Company before we look into what this Arc browser has to offer.

Background

The team at Browser Company has been working on this new browser for the past three years, and for good reason. They believe that all traditional browsers are essentially the same and offer nothing new to users. That's why they set out to create something truly unique with Arc. This browser is a departure from the traditional browsing experience and offers a range of innovative features and capabilities. With Arc, you'll enjoy a browsing experience that is unlike anything you've ever experienced before.

As per Browser Company -

Although our internet use has undergone significant changes, the browser has remained largely unchanged for the past 25 years. While other software tools have evolved to include more collaborative features, flexible interfaces, and powerful functionality, the browser has not kept up with the pace of innovation. This is why we are developing a new browser called Arc.

 

Our belief is that browsers have the potential to empower us to do so much more. We envision a browser that can keep up with our thoughts, take on some of our workload, and help unleash our creativity. Our goal is to create a browser that is well-suited to how we use the internet today and will be a foundation for how we hope to use it in the future.

Arc Launch for iOS

Browser Company has launched the first version of Arc for iOS today. In a series of Tweets, Adam Stern from Arc Team has explained how Arc for iOS Brings Your Home on the Internet to Your Fingertips. As per him, the idea was to make Arc your home on the internet, wherever you are. 

He also mentioned that during the development of the desktop version of Arc, Arc Developers were greatly influenced by iOS, which led to many of the core interactions seamlessly transitioning to the touchscreen. For instance, the space-swiping interaction from the desktop version made its way into the iOS version, giving the app an instantly familiar feel. The aim was to create an innovative, interactive, and fluid experience. With Arc for iOS, opening folders in your sidebar is a breeze and can be easily dismissed with a simple swipe down gesture.

Today we’re launching the first version of Arc for iOS.

Stern also talked about customization and as per his updates, one of the interesting features in Arc is the ability to customize themes, making the app feel uniquely personalized. With Arc on iOS, theming almost every aspect of the app is possible. Switching between themes on the go is a breeze with Arc for iOS. There is a beautiful dock that allows you to easily switch between your favorite themes. 

Simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen and select the theme you want. You can even customize your themes further in the settings menu, where you can choose from a range of colors and gradients. With Arc for iOS, there is complete control over the look and feel of your browsing experience.

The Arc team initially aimed to create a simple companion app but ended up developing a browser with its own search experience. A web-view is built with quick searching in mind. Features such as a rubber-banding swipe gesture, pinning websites to the sidebar, and Arc Referral codes were added. The Arc app is available to download from the App Store.
