DuckDuckGo is now powered with ChatGPT: DuckAssist is available for browsers and extensions
DuckDuckGo, the privacy-focused search engine, has launched the beta version of its AI-powered search tool called DuckAssist. Developed using generative AI technology from OpenAI and Anthropic which is Google-backed. The new tool is a significant step forward in improving the search experience for all DuckDuckGo users.
Currently, DuckAssist is only available on the DuckDuckGo mobile app and browser extension. However, if the trial goes well, it will be rolled out to all DuckDuckGo search users in the coming weeks. The company made the announcement via Twitter, along with a detailed video to explain and provide more information about the new tool.
DuckAssist aims to answer user's questions by scanning a 'specific set of sources' to find a brief summary from Wikipedia or Britannica. However, it may not be available for most searches yet. The new assist feature only appears for search results that have straightforward answers on Wikipedia.
It's important to note that while DuckAssist provides a brief summary from Wikipedia, it can still provide inaccurate answers to some complex questions. Despite this limitation, DuckAssist is a significant addition to DuckDuckGo's arsenal of search tools. While the new tool has some limitations, it is still a significant addition to the search engine's suite of tools, and users can look forward to a more efficient search experience in the coming weeks.
